It was a celebration of an achiever and benefactor as staff and students of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State trooped out to honour the Founder of the University, Chief Michael Ade.Ojo on the occasion of his 77th birthday.
In an occasion that had in attendance dignitaries from all walks of life, staff and students of the University used unique ways to show appreciation to a man who has put in place a university that has been widely adjudged as a centre of excellence in architectural design and lay-out.
In his honor, a communion service was held, football, Basketball and Tennis competitions were organized by the Institution’s Sports Unit to bring members of the university community and host community together to celebrate Chief Ade.Ojo who has brought development to the town by establishing the University and an eighteen-hole international Golf Resort.
In the Tennis competition that was witnessed by the former Nigerian Ambassador to Australia, Mr. Ayo Olukanni and other dignitaries, Ojo Bayode, 200 level Business Administration defeated Mr. Enoch Adeagbo, a Network Engineer in the Information Technology Unit of the University 6-0, 6-3, 6-3 to win the prize. The football competition witnessed a successful defense of the trophy by students of Community Comprehensive High School, Ilara-Mokin who after winning the 2014 edition of the competition, defeated students of Wexford College, Akure on penalty shoot-out after playing 3-3 in regulation time. In Basketball, the Rocketers of Elizade defeated their Blazers counterparts to emerge winners of the competition.
Additionally, there was cultural display by students of the University to entertain the celebrant and his guests at the Smokin Hills Golf Resort, Ilara-Mokin. The Ibo, South-South and Yoruba groups all displayed their rich cultures to the amusement of the celebrant and his guests.
Responding, the celebrant, Chief Michael Ade.Ojo thanked staff and students of the University for showing him special love on his day. He revealed that the presence of students of the University at occasions meant to celebrate him always gladdens his heart.
